Far Out Gallery (FOG) is honored to have Ed Handelman, Peggy Huff and Richard Louis Perri exhibiting together. They are truly OG’s, also interpreted as Original Gangsters which befits them. The three artists share a similar journey by making their way to San Francisco in the 1970’s, becoming painters, attending the San Francisco Art Institute and living in North Beach among the few remaining bohemians.
Ed Handelman, a nonagenarian, came from Nebraska. After serving in the army, he studied art in Florence, Italy. His sunsets are painted from memory. Farm chemicals mixing with sunlight in rural Nebraska light the sky with a vibrant spectrum of colors. Ed’s figures emerged from his early Abstract Expressionist paintings.
Peggy Huff and Richard Louis Perri, both octogenarians, are from the east coast. Peggy came from Florida. Her current focus is water– its surface and beneath. Peggy is regular pool swimmer, painting floating and moving through water.
Richard is from Long Island, New York. He paints urban and nature landscapes and portraits. Among many San Francisco buildings and landmarks, Richard painted a series of the city’s coffee huts. Red’s Java House is one of them.
These masterful artists are actively creating. They have developed their work throughout their lives into imaginative, bold and opulent art. It’s a triple WOW to see these paintings at FOG.
